# Using the My Carrier Packets Integration

||| My Carrier Packets keeps records you **already have** up to date — it does not create new carriers. The carrier must already exist in Pegasys as a **vendor** with a matching **DOT number** (or **MC / docket number**). Changes for a carrier you don't track as a vendor are simply skipped — there is nothing to update.

My Carrier Packets is an FMCSA-backed carrier onboarding and monitoring platform. It provides carrier profile data, insurance, risk assessments, and fraud/incident reporting, and continuously monitors carriers for changes to insurance, authority, and risk. Pegasys integrates with My Carrier Packets so that when a monitored carrier changes, those changes flow into Pegasys automatically — the matching vendor business record and its contacts are updated for you, and every change is logged to the record's history. Unlike dispatch-level tracking, this is a **company-wide** integration that runs on its own once installed; there is no per-carrier action to take.

**Installing My Carrier Packets**
1. Ensure the My Carrier Packets app is installed through the Pegasys marketplace
* Click **Marketplace** along the top navigation bar
* Click the **My Carrier Packets** tile
* Click **Install**
2. Enter your **API Key** when prompted and click **Confirm**
* Pegasys validates the key with a live call to My Carrier Packets before saving, so an invalid key is rejected immediately and the window stays open for you to correct it

3. Installation requires the **Administrator** app permission. The integration itself uses the **Manage Vendor** and **Manage Contacts** permissions to update your records

|| My Carrier Packets is a **Company App** — one subscription per company, shared by everyone. Only an Administrator can install, manage, or uninstall it, and there is one connection per company.

**How the sync works (no setup on your side)**
Unlike some integrations, there are **no webhook URLs to configure** and nothing to send to the My Carrier Packets team. Once installed, Pegasys checks My Carrier Packets for carrier changes automatically on a recurring basis (every few minutes) and applies anything new in the background. There is no button to press and no manual import — it simply keeps working from the moment it's installed.

For each change reported, Pegasys:
1. **Matches the carrier to one of your vendors** by DOT number first, then MC / docket number
2. **Updates the vendor business record** with the latest identity details from My Carrier Packets
3. **Refreshes the vendor's contacts** — adding new ones and updating existing ones
4. **Logs every change** to the record's history and, for material changes, raises a notification

**What gets updated on the vendor**
When My Carrier Packets reports newer information, the following business fields are brought up to date:
* **Name** (legal name) and **Display Name** (DBA)
* **Address**, **City**, **Province / State**, **Postal Code**, **Country**
* **Primary Phone**, **Secondary Phone**, and **Email**

Contacts are kept in step as well:
* **New contacts** from My Carrier Packets are added to the vendor
* **Existing contacts** have their **Phone**, **Email**, and **Title** updated when they've changed
* Contacts are matched on **email address**, so an update lands on the right person rather than creating a duplicate

|| My Carrier Packets is treated as the source of truth for these FMCSA-sourced identity fields, so its values take priority — but it will **never overwrite an existing value with a blank one**. Contacts that disappear from My Carrier Packets are left in place, so your own manually entered contacts are never deleted.

**Reviewing what changed**
Every change the integration makes is written to the vendor's **History**, exactly like a manual edit — so you can see precisely what changed, from what value to what value, and when.
1. Open the **vendor (carrier) record**
2. Open its **History** log
3. Changes made by the integration appear alongside your team's manual edits. Because they come from the integration rather than a specific person, they are attributed to My Carrier Packets rather than to a user

**Notifications for material changes**
Some changes are too important to leave buried in a history log. When My Carrier Packets reports a **material change** — such as an **insurance** or **risk** change — Pegasys also raises a **notification** so the change is actively surfaced to your team, not just recorded. The notification names the affected carrier and the type of change reported.

**Uninstalling My Carrier Packets**
You can disconnect at any time from the **My Carrier Packets** page in the Marketplace by clicking **Uninstall** (Administrator only). Automatic updates stop immediately, and your existing vendor records and their history are left untouched. Reinstall at any time to resume monitoring.
