# How to change the Dispatch Number

There may be a case where you need to create a dispatch with a custom dispatch number or change an existing number. You can only do this with an existing dispatch record.

**From an existing Dispatch page**
1. Click **More**.
2. Click **Change Number**.
3. Enter your desired Dispatch Number.
4. Click **Change Number**.

**From the Dispatch button**
The open button is very powerful for any record. You can access your record controls without leaving a page and keep yourself in the flow of your processes.

1. Click the **dropdown arrow** beside any shipment **Open** button.
2. Click **Change Number**.
3. Enter your desired Dispatch Number.
4. Click **Change Number**.


|| If you change the number to a number greater than your sequence then your sequence will increment to the (number + 1) that you just assigned.
